Pickers Challenge "Semi-Official" Guidelines

Thank you for stopping by to check out the Challenge Guidelines - we appreciate your interest in joining us in this fun venue.  Each week is different so make sure you watch both of the latest challenge videos (one will be the entries - the other will be the results)  through to the end so that you are current and up to date and know what is to be entered for the next challenge.

Please note that since this a newer project and has the potential to change as new issues and ideas arise, these guidelines may change periodically and we reserve the right to do so when we feel it is an improvement to the challenge.

 Here are the basics:

  • Pick an item
    • You should pay no more than $8.00 for the item
    • You should pick an item that has not been featured numerous times on youtube picker videos, something that caught your eye and stopped you to take a second look and say that looks interesting I have not seen anything like that before I don't know anything about this - I wonder if it might be worth something to someone.
    • It would be best if you waited to research the item until after you have submitted your video to make it a true competition. While the winner will be chosen by the largest profit the main objective is bring in new items that as a community we can deem the item a "pick it up" or "pass it by" as it is always a surprise to find out what kind of items sell and don't sell.
  • Create a short video
    • The video should be no more than 2 minutes long and then state:
    • Who you are
    • What the item is
    • Why you picked the item
    • How much you paid for it
    • Where you got it
    • And anything you know about the item (short description, any condition issues, etc.)
  • List the item
    • You need to be willing to list the item in an auction format
    • Willing to list it at a starting price of $9.99 or less with no free shipping to make it easier for us to calculate profits!
    • The item needs to end by Saturday night to give us time to create a results video for Sunday.
    •  If you want a 7 day auction you need to list the item by the Saturday before you enter, if you want a 5 day auction you need to start the auction by Monday and for a 3 day auction it will need to be listed no later than Wednesday.
    • You will need to email us the listing item number so that we can keep track and announce the winner (by doing so you give us permission to use photos from your listing for the results video)
  • Post the video as a video response to the results video that is posted on Sunday
    • Must be posted by Tuesday night to give us time to put the challenge video together for Wednesday
    • By doing so, you give us permission to use & edit your video and your youtube ID in a challenge video.

We really look forward to your participation in the challenge and if you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact us either through youtube or at somelikeitused1@gmail.com
Depending on the popularity of the pickers challenge, we may need to limit the number of participants each week.  For fairness, this will be done randomly, so if your pick is not chosen, you can try again the following week.  So get out there, pick, make a video and have fun!
Happy Picking,
Tammy & Danielle

  1. Wow sounds like fun. I probably won't get to play this week but I might be able to next week. It will be great to see what everyone comes up with.
